FRESHMAN SUMMER READING PROJECT - Honors English & Freshman Summer Reading

All incoming freshman will complete a summer reading assignment. Each student will read two books or one book and a magazine. YOU MAY READ ANY BOOK YOU WANT AS LONG AS IT IS 100 PAGES LONG OR LONGER AND YOU HAVE NEVER READ THE BOOK BEFORE!!! Each student will create a visual for the summer reading and present the visual on Friday the first full week of school in September. The visual can be combined to include both books or be two separate visuals. It's up to the student! Read all the directions - just click on SUMMER READING ASSINGMENT below. There are several sites with reading lists for summer. The Kitsap Regional Library has great suggestions as does Barnes & Noble. Here is a site not everyone knows about called Shmoop! This is a link to their summer reading suggestions for 2011 and 2012: http://www.shmoop.com/news/2011/06/23/summer-reading-list-2011/ http://www.shmoop.com/news/2012/06/06/summer-reading-list-2012/ Go to their main page for literature and you will find hundreds of book suggestions listed alphabetically: http://www.shmoop.com/news/2012/06/06/summer-reading-list-2012/ Another cool site is Book Daily - sign up for the daily teen 5 - these are suggestions of books teens actually like and are recommended by teens for teens. http://www.bookdaily.com/ Guys Read is a great site to fine reading that guys prefer: http://www.guysread.com/ If you have questions - email me! Look up to the right and you'll find my email link. I check the internet fairly regularly throughout the summer so be patient. I'll answer questions and help out where I can. REMEMBER ANY BOOK LISTS ARE JUST SUGGESTIONS!!! FIND YOUR OWN BOOKS OR USE THE LISTS. THE PRIMARY FOCUS SHOULD BE TO FIND READING YOU WILL BE INTERESTED IN AND FINISH! See you in September 2013! Please sign up to receive regular updates to this website by going to the tab at the left labeled: NewsFlash. At the bottom of the page you can enter your email and every time the site gets updated you will receive an email!! It's awesome and easy and FREE! It's free no matter what but that often gets people's attention. Don't forget to check out http://www.bookdaily.com/ and sign up for the Teen emails. You'll love it! Truly!! Also - go to at least one of the Kitsap Regional Library fun nights. Seriously - they rock1@2222222222222222222222222222 (my cat is helping me type) See you in September!
