Homework
Expectations:
Homework is due the day after it is assigned unless otherwise indicated.
When doing homework students should always print and use a pencil unless
otherwise indicated.
Reading:
For Reading homework this year students are to be reading 20 minutes every
day. Included in the 20 minutes will be the daily reading homework sheet
they receive from reading class every day. When they finish the sheet from
reading class they need to continue to read a book of their choice until the
twenty minutes is up. They should record the books they read on the weekly
reading log I am sending home. They reading homework sheet from reading
class needs to be signed and returned daily. The reading log needs to be
signed on Thursday and returned on Friday. If you have any questions or
concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Book Reports:
These go along with the reading homework. Students will need to do one book
report per month. The report will be due at the end of the month. They will
be allowed to use a variety of formats in which to complete this assignment.
Each book report should contain:
The Title
The Author and/or Illustrator
The Main Characters
A summary of the book
The student’s opinion of the book with evidence from the book to back it up
Spelling:
We will be doing spelling this year but will be starting it in October.
Language Arts:
The students may have occasional language worksheets assigned. Homework is
due the next day.
Social Studies or Science:
The students may have projects which require some work at home. There will
always be a due date for any such projects and the students will be given
ample time to complete them.
Writing:
Writing is done completely in class and there usually will not be any
homework.
