In fifth grade, students will have homework. This will help them make the most of their learning experiences at school. Homework reinforces what's been taught in class, prepares them for upcoming lessons, and teaches them responsiblity and independence. It should take about 30-40 minutes each night, Monday through Thursday. That time includes 20 minutes of reading. Homework is not generally assigned on weekends or vacations. Students are expected to read everyday; 20 minutes is good, 25 minutes is better, 30 minutes or more makes the best difference! Students should complete a weekly reading log, graph and total their minutes and turn it in with a parent signature. Logs are due Friday. Practice, Practice, Practice...makes you better!
