Do I have to do my homework?

Homework is something that families should structure time for. If homework
is not being done, Mrs. Whitehouse will speak to your family to see if she
can help with your success as a student. There is a homework grade on your
report card and the purpose is for you to do the best that you can as a
student. It is difficult for Mrs. Whitehouse to enforce homework
consequences at school. Mrs. Whitehouse will help families to make homework
a home responsibility.

Do we get to choose our seats in class?

At the beginning of the year, Mrs. Whitehouse will assign you your desk.
Your place in the room will change each month. Depending on the behavior of
our class, students may get to choose their seat some months!

What is discipline like in our class?

Mrs. Whitehouse uses our school program of Make Your Day. Students can teach
their families what it is! It is a positive program that allows for students
to take full responsiblity of their actions. Our goal is to not interrupt
our learning time and Make Your Day allows for students to take
responsibility of their behavior without stopping the learning of others.

Will we go on field trips?

Yes! One field trip that every third grader in the Monroe Public Schools
gets the opportunity to do is the trip to the wetlands! We will do that in
May and it is part of our scientific study of the wetlands habitat!
The third grade teachers in our school are working hard on other field trip
ideas so stay tuned!

Can families go on field trips?

Can we bring a snack and water bottle to class?

Yes! We have a water dispenser in our classroom for you to fill your water

while you work. A class snack will be available if you forget to bring your
own. We work while we eat!
