About The Teacher

I started teaching in Lake Washington School District in 1989 after
graduating from Washington State University. I taught Kindergarten and 1st
grade until I had my second child. At that point I quit teaching to become a
full time mom. Once my children started school I became a substitute teacher
here in Monroe School District.

For the past four years I have been teaching PE here in Monroe school
District. I love all the activity and I am excited about helping kids see
the value of being healthy and fit. As the school year continues, you will
be hearing more from your kids about how they can make healthy choices.

I have been married to my husband, Scott, for 19 years. We met at WSU while
on the Rowing Team, also known as the Crew. He was an oarsman, I was the
coxswain, (that is the person who steers the boat). We have two children
here in Monroe School District. Our son, Evan, is a sophomore at Monroe High
School, and our daughter, Rachel, is a 7th grader at Monroe Middle School.

Mission For The Class

My mission as a PE teacher is to help kids learn how valuable it is to live
a healthy lifestyle. Not only is it important to keep active on a daily
basis, but we also need to make good choices on how we fuel our body. If we
set kids up with healthy habits now, it will be much easier for them to
continue those habits into adulthood.
