STEM academy final assessment
Welcome to the Greenwood Elementary Library, home of the Panthers.
Book Flix available now!
Thanks for everyone that supported our Fall Book Fair. With our Scholastic Dollars, we purchased a subscription to Bookflix, which is like Netflix for books. Students can watch videos of their favorite stories and access non-fiction electronic books that read aloud to students. Students can write down the user name and password when they come to the library. Click on the image of the home screen below to get started once you have the user name and password.

This year, we have expanded our collection to include electronic books that students can access from home. Students can create backpacks to keep track of the books they're reading. The best part of electronic books is that you can't misplace the book or damage it. Mackin Via works on tablets, smart phones, laptops, and desktop computers.

At the A.L.A. conference, Greenwood joined We Give Books in order to read more books online. If you want to read 200 different books at home without having to wait until open check out, click on the image below.

Extended Check Out Forms now available. Click here to download the document that allows students to check out audiobooks, alpha smart 3000s, recorders, reference books, middle level books, and headphones.
100 books to read before Kindergarten.
Click here to find some great books that all students should hear before Kindergarten. If they have missed any, parents are welcome to come check out these books from our library on Tuesdays after school from 2:30-3:00.

At Greenwood Elementary, we use Accelerated Reading, where students can read books that are just right for them. When they complete reading their book, they can take a comprehension quiz to see how much they understand what they are reading. We have an incentive program for students that get points towards their A.R. goals. You can track your A.R. goals from home by clicking here.
Students can take an A.R. test by clicking here.

Our A.R. books have various dot colors that help students find the right book.
AR Party June 15th

Almost 70 students got their 2nd or above goal in AR this year. Keep reading A.R. books and remember to take an A.R. test at school or from home. Some tablets have an A.R. app now. The top 20 AR users over the summer get a party in September.
We would like to thank the Fort Lewis Thrift Store for all of their support. Through their grants, we have purchased animation technology, musical instruments, and technology to make ebook listening centers. They are located down the street from our school.
Greenwood Elementary's June 15th, 2012 Band Performance is now available in the videos tab on the left hand side. See each class performance online now.
The Greenwood Library is proud to announce that we received a donorchoose.org grant for a recording workstation that is housed in the library. Students in 4th and 5th Grade will be using it in the near future to record music, soundtracks, podcasts, and audio books.

Greenwood received another Donors Choose Grant in the form of electric guitars and basses. 4th grades got an opportunity to play these instruments in Band.
