8th Period - Adv. HS Choir

5/2
Great job today.  We need to make sure that our notes are all secure.  We are only as good as we are prepared.  Please look over your notes and drill them until you can think of nothing else!  I look forward to our time with Sarah Silvia on Friday! And the festival on Saturday!  See below for the letter I sent home this afternoon.

Dear Advanced High School Choir Parents,

I want to make sure that you all have the details for this Saturday, May 5 and the choir’s big day at the Mountain Region Large Group High School Choral Festival at Graham-Kapowsin High School. Please know that I made every effort to avoid a conflicting schedule with the SAT that morning. We were placed as late in the schedule as possible. While the date has been known to us all year, our time was not solidified until earlier this week.

The Advanced High School Choir will be performing at 1:10 PM in the Auditorium at Graham-Kapowsin High School. We are providing a bus for the choir. Please have your student to Harrison Prep by 11:30 AM in order for us to leave on time and arrive at GKHS in time for our allotted warm-up time. This is crucial. Please do not be late.

This is a graded activity and a lot of fun as well. Students will have the opportunity to hear some excellent choirs and sing for judges who are experts in the field of choral music, receiving relevant and immediate feedback from Dr. Brian Galante, the Assistant Director of Choral Activities at Pacific Lutheran University.

Please contact me immediately if you would like to join us on the bus or if you have any other questions for me.

Thank you for your continued support or our students!

Musically Yours,

Make sure you are working on pure vowels in Dixit Maria.  Know where you have moving parts or the melody and make sure that you have it marked so you will remember (and be able to erase).

Dirait-On sounded great today. We are finally tightening up some of the more difficult chords.  I can't wait until we get the ending perfect.  I will be conducting it more in class and we will sing it a cappella.

Great job!  We had fun today and got some great work done.
