Objectives:

To provide experiences outside school (job shadows, college visits, service learning, etc.)
To prepare students for 13thyear and beyond
To prepare and apply for 4-year universities
To write college entrance essays
To research and prepare for scholarship opportunities
To prepare families for college application/entrance
To educate parents about college entrance
To cultivate an attitude of confidence/success

 

Portfolio Requirements:

Seniors

·        3-5 college applications including Common Application (stretch, safe bet, back-up plan)

·        3-5 scholarship application essays including personal essay

·        SAT/ACT scores

·        Resume

·        Transcript

·        FAFSA application (if applicable)

·        Senior Project proposal

·        Senior Project reflective essay

·        Job shadow reflection

·        13thyear plan

Juniors

·        Ethical Dilemma essays 1-6

Harrison Prep Late Work Policy

We expect that allstudentswill turn in assignments on the given due date at the beginning of the student's assigned class period. Late work is an assignment not turned in by the established due date / class period.All late work will be accepted during the current nine week grading period up to the commencement of the final summative assessment.

·        Students who submit late work one day past the due date can earn up to a 70% on the late assignment.

·        Students who submit late work two or more days past the due date can earn up to a 50% on the late assignment.

·        Assignments not submitted will be entered in the gradebook as missing which will calculate as a zero.

Absence

Students have one day to make up work for each day they are out with an excused absence.

 

Quarter End dates:

·        1stquarter: November 9th(Seniors need to pay attention to this grade report. Colleges frequently ask for 1stquarter grades, especially if 9-11 grade GPAs are low.)

·        (FINAL GRADE) 2ndquarter: January 31st

·        3rdquarter: April 12th

·        (FINAL GRADE) 4thquarter: June 19th
