Welcome to Hurricane Track and Field!
Parents and Athletes,
Thank you for choosing to participate in Track and Field at Hudtloff. We, as coaches, hope to make this season exciting, competitive, and full of sportsmanship. We are focused on creating better student-athletes and developing character in all of our team members. It is our goal to make you better people as well as athletes, as you cannot be one without the other.
Track and Field does not have cuts, so if you turn out, you will compete. It is our hope that you attempt new events and give each one your best effort. We understand that you may have your favorite event already, but as coaches, we may see potential in you that you have not seen in yourself. Also, never be afraid to approach any of the coaches if there is an event you really want to try; we are always willing to accommodate you as well.
Practices start at 3:25 pm and run until 5:15 pm. We expect you to be on time and ready to work-out on time everyday. If you are absent or late to practice, you will need to give one of the coaches a note from a staff member, parent, or doctor to participate in practice. Also, a reminder to parents; practice is an important time for the training and success of your student-athlete. Please do not interrupt practice to speak with a coach. If you need to have a discussion with a coach, make an appointment before or after practice. We are always willing to meet with you as long as it is not during practice.
As always, there are rules to be able to participate in any team sport, Track and Field is no different. You must maintain a 2.0 GPA and have no “F’s” in any classes. You must be cleared through Student Accounts before you are allowed to participate in practice or competitions. This is strictly enforced with no exceptions.
Please make sure you inform your coaches of any special medical needs or concerns. If your condition should change at any point during the season, or if you have an injury that has been bothering you, the coaches need to know as soon as possible. If you see a medical professional for any reason during the season, you will a note from that person stating you are safe to compete.
Below you will find additional information and expectations from the coaching staff. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,

Students participating in sports are representing Hudtloff Middle School to the public. Appropriate behavior is expected from all athletes at practice, on the bus, in and around schools (home and away), and in any place where they are under the supervision of Hudtloff Staff. This includes following the Hudtloff Code of Conduct, Hudtloff Dress Code, etc.
During all meets and practices, athletes are expected to be with the team at all times. You should always support your teammates in their events, even if you have finished competing for the day. Athletes are not allowed to leave with other teammates’ parents or get a ride home from away games from anyone unless the coaches have spoken with the parent beforehand and/or the athlete brings a note from their parent stating it is okay with a phone number to reach them at. There are absolutely no exceptions to this rule.
