If a student misses work or a quiz, it is his/her responsibility to come to
me to schedule a time for make up as soon as he/she returns from the absence.
If the student fails to do so within the time allowed for excused make up
work per district policy of one day for one day absent, the zero will stand
permanently.

Clarifying my Grading Policy:
Math only: Daily points (value of 5 per day) are earned if a student has
completed his/her daily assignment. This is a one time credit earned for
making a good effort to complete a daily assignment. If a student has not
completed his/her daily assignment, he/she will not earn the 5 points and
may
not earn them at a later date. However, all daily work needs to be completed
and included in the weekly mini math portfolio turned in on Fridays. At that
time, credit for work completed is also given a point value. (Portfolios
earn
a maximum of 50 points).
For both Math and Science: Once an assessment (test or quiz) is given,
students may not turn in late or missing work pertaining to that unit for a
point value. I give each student one copy of each assignment. If a student
is
absent, it is his/her responsibility to pick up work missed due to the
absence from the folder located at the front of the room. A student has one
day to make up work for each day missed per district standard policy. After
that date, the assignment would earn a reduced value but must be turned in
no
later than the date of the unit assessment.
Remember: Classwork is defined as those assignments we begin in class and
either finish in class that day or may take home and complete that night.
(In
math, bringing back that daily assignment the very next day completed is
what
earns that one time 5 point credit.) The only true "homework" assignments
are
those assignments I give students that cannot be completed in class (i.e.
signed progress reports, signed portfolios, etc.).
