What are the classroom rules and discipline policy?

Our goal is to create a safe, positive learning environment where students
respect each other and do not disrupt another student from learning or
feeling good about themselves.
As you know we use the school wide CARES philosophy (Cooperate-Attitude-
Respect-Effort-Safety) and the Refocusing program adopted by the building.
In addition room 54 uses the "Big 3" of Making Good Decisions, Solving
Problems and Showing Respect.

What happens if my child does not follow these expectations?

When they fail to follow CARES and/or the Big 3, they understand that there
will be consequences for their behavior. They will be given a promt ex.
_____line up quietly and hands to ourselves. If they are still not following
our established rules they will be refocused to a quiet area to give them
time to think about what they did and how to make better choices. If a
student has 3 Refocuses in a week they will have noon time academy in order
to complete assignments they did not finish.

Some behaviors are absolutes and will require an immediate visit to the
office. These behaviors include bullying, fighting and showing disrespect to
an adult.
