Example Book Projects

LEGEND MOVIE REELS

November's Book Project is to read
a Legend and create a Movie Reel.
Legends are stories that explain
some type of natural phenomenon.
An example would be a story that
explains how a skunk got it's
white stripe.

TALL TALE SANDWICH

Tall Tales are exaggerated
stories. Students need to read a
Tall Tale story and then complete
the Sandwich Project. Project
papers were passed out in class.

NEWBERRY SCRAPBOOK PAGE

Students will read Newberry Award
winning chapter books for the
month of January. Students will
create a scrapbook page focusing
on different elements of
literature.

BIOGRAPHY PROJECTS

This month students are to read an
Autobiography or a Biography.
After completing their chapter
book, they have three activities
to complete. They will write an
Important Person Poem, create a
Timeline of the person's life, and
give a Speech to the class.

BIORGRAPHY SPEECH

At the end of the month, students
will give a speech to the class.
They will take the role of the
person they read about as they
present their speech. The
costumes really add a lot of
pizazz!

MEMORY BAG

After reading a chapter book from
a series, students will complete a
Memory Bag Project. They must
gather a variety of items to place
in some type of bag or conainter
that represent each of the
different literary features of
their book.

FLIPBOOK PROJECT

After reading a Mystery book,
students created a Flip Book.
Each part of the Flip Book focuses
on different literary elements
such as setting, characters, and
plot.
