November 4
Time flies!!!
We are beginning our second quarter of school. Conferences are over, and
progress reports have been sent home.
Your kids are great, and I am having a terrific time working with them.
In science, we are finishing up our ecosystems unit this week. The kids are
deciding whether we want to introduce pollutants to our ecocolumns. If we do,
our systems will die. The kids have worked hard on them, and have become
attached to their fish. They may decide to just let nature takes it course.
In math, we are continuing to work on fractions. It is a long and difficult
unit. We will be finished in a couple of weeks; then it is on to Geometry.
We continue to do Guided Reading everyday. During our small group work, we
work on reading strategies to help the students gain a better understanding
of what they are reading.
Our current read aloud novel is Found, authored by Margaret Peterson Haddix.
This is our second read aloud book by this author, and we can't wait to find
out what happens next.
We have also just become acquainted with our penpals. They are students that
belong to a friend of mine in California. We received our first letters
today, and our replies will be sent out this week.
Thanks for all of your support.
