School Closure
Clover Park School District is a member of the Public School Emergency

delayed due to snow or other emergency, an announcement will be made over
several local television stations. In emergency situations, we may need to
close school during the day; however, if it is safer to keep students at
school than to send them home, they will be kept at school under supervision.

Half Days
What do teachers do on half days? This is a question that probably crossed
your mind more than a few times this year.
The half days were put into place to allow teachers time for collaborative
planning. This has become a very valuable tool for teachers as they work to
improve instruction for students and prepare them for alignment across the
grade level and school.
All of the grades have sat as groups and looked at the Essential Learnings
and compared them to what we are teaching. The Essential Learnings are the
lists of skills and information that the state of Washington says students
need to have at their grade level. Doing this as a group allows the teachers
to be sure that the entire grade level is focused on the essentials.
Teachers have also been developing Essential Questions for their lessons and
units. These Essential Questions help keep lessons focused on the goal and
move students to advance in their higher level thinking skills.
The Lakeview Hope Academy Staff has also been planning common lessons within their grade
level.
