When does my student have the human growth and development (FLASH/AIDS/HIV) unit?

This unit is taught at the end of the trimester. Mrs. Cotton
will send out information in the school newsletter at least one
month prior to teaching. Parents will then need to make an
appointment with the office staff to view the curriculum and make
a choice as to whether they would like to opt your student out.
Students who are opted out will have an assignment that is
designed to last for the duration of the health unit. (3 weeks)

What do I do if I was absent?

If you miss a health class you need to check the calendar on this
website for missed work or ask Mrs. Cotton. Students are
responsible for getting missed work and turning it in. Students
have two days for each day they were absent to make up work.
Please write "ABSENT" on the top of your homework.

How do you stay in contact with families when you have so many students?

In an effort to stay connected with parents and keep families
updated regularly I send out monthly e-mails to parents regarding
grade updates. These e mails will also include important
activities and/or assignments/due dates that are coming up. I
also include class information in the core teams weekly
newsletter as availble. Class informatin can also be found in
the school newsletter each month. Please feel free to e mail or
call me directly throughout the trimester.
