How long does the free/reduced lunch application process take?
It can take up to ten working days to process a free/reduced
lunch application. Please send $2.85 or a sack lunch with your
child during this time. You must complete a new free/reduced
lunch application each year.
How much do lunch cards cost?
Students are initially provided a free lunch card, replacements,
however, are $2.00.
Who determines the school menu?
Katie Walters, Food Service Asst. Director. 253-583-5490.
Why can't 6th graders participate in all athletics?
This carries over from when all of the schools in the district
and in most school districts were Junior Highs. There are
several programs that 6th graders can participate in: tennis,
wrestling, and track.
Why do students have to pay $15.00 (6th grade) $20.00 (7th & 8th grades) for an ASB Sticker?
The cost for uniforms, officials, bussing and the supplies needed
to run an athletic program is not completely covered by the
school. By having students pay a fee, they are helping support
their own teams financially. Students only pay this fee once a
year, it is good for all athletic programs throughout that school
year and can be paid at any time before the teams begin
practice. It is part of the clearance process and must be paid
before your child can turn out.
What GPA do I have to keep to participate in athletics?
Students are required to keep a 2.0 grade point average with no
F's in any subject. If students begin the season with a lower
GPA or any Fs, they are placed on probation and can continue to
participate until the next grade check. However if they have not
raised their grades by that time they are removed from the team
permanently.
Why isn't there soccer for boys?
We know there are many young men that would love for Lochburn to
offer boys soccer, but it has never been started in the local
middle schools. It is sometimes offered as an extended learning
activity for all students.

Co Ed Football

What do I need to do to get cleared for sports?
You need to visit Mrs. Sablan in Student Accounts and pick up a
sports clearance packet. It includes a parent permission slip,
emergency contact form, a physical form for your doctor and some
general informtion. This must all be filled out and turned in
prior to turning out for any athletic team. You must also pass a
grade check with a 2.0 GPA and no F's in any subject. Lastly you
must pay your ASB fee. Once this is done, you will be
cleared.

Can students letter in sports?
In short, yes. However, ASB (the student council) decided that
it was far too expensive for students to be actually getting
letters that you would put on a "letterman's jacket". Students
that letter during a sports season now receive a pin and a
certificate. The pin can be worn on the student lanyard.
