Dear Families,
I can’t believe it is already May! The year has gone fast, yet I find myself trying to convince the
kids it isn’t over yet.
Last week we had a class meeting and determined some bad habits that have developed. We established
some clearer class rules to help us finish up the year on good terms. We discussed them, practiced
following them, and had a week of reminders. I will be very consistent in following through on
these rules. Students will be bringing home behavior slips if they choose to break the rules after
getting a reminder. Please have your child go over our class rules and talk about how it’s going.
I’ve attached a copy of the rules and consequences the class came up with last week.
Many students have not turned in the signed sheet showing they’ve been doing their reading, math
facts, and discussed their Last Name Project with an adult. Please make sure these are returned
ASAP! Also, EVERY child needs to have completed 3 health logs. Several have not turned in even one.
These are going to be used in class for a health unit. You can download additional health logs off
the class website.
Last Name Project DUE DATES. Please sign your child up for either the 22nd or 28th to present. If
you are going to attend the presentation please make sure I know, otherwise I may move students to
other days, without notice, if I can’t fit them all in. Also make sure to let me know if you are
bringing in a food item to share. I will schedule students on a first come basis. If the 28th fills
some students may not get a choice. Remember anyone can come on our school’s Multicultural Day, May
29th, to walk through and hear presentations.
Pike Place Market and Seattle Art Museum field trip is on June 13th. I have 2 of the 8 needed
chaperones. I need to know who can volunteer by May 22nd so I can cancel our bus and reservations if
I don’t have enough help. I will let everyone know if we are going on May 27th and send home
permission slips.
Kids need to continue reading at least 20 minutes each night. They should have completed mastering
their multiplication facts by now and should be starting division. This is VERY IMPORTANT to
practice at home.
Please return the homework signed so I know they are working on their Last Name Projects.
