This year will be my 9th year of teaching and my 8th at Martha Lake. I have taught
Preschool- Jr.High . Most of my experience has been in grades 1st-4th. I graduated
from WWU in Bellingham with my B.A. in education and Lesley University with my M.A.
in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in teaching through the creative arts.
Most of my recent professional development has been in technology integration and
literacy instruction.
The mission for this class is first and formost to build a community
where it is safe to learn and share. Students have a voice in decision
making as much as possible and help to solve issues that arise.
Understanding individual strengths and challenges is an underlying
theme. Students will learn how they learn best and what areas they need
to work on. They will develop empathy and understanding for other
people's learning differences.
Once students feel safe to learn and share they will be ready for the fun
but challenging curriculum of 4th grade. Students will be doing many
projects that integrate research, the arts, and technology. Students are
responsible for quality work completion both at school and home.
Support is always available from me in class, at recess, and during
homework club.
