Kindergarten through second grade classrooms have guidance lessons delivered by their teachers. The Second Step curriculum is used in these grades.
Third, Fourth and Fifth grade classes have a classroom guidance lesson delivered by the counselor every other week. The Steps to Respect curriculum is used in these grades.
Lessons cover various topics, such as bullying, problem solving, and friendship skills.
The counselor delivers "The Big Ten" anti-bullying lesson in every classroom at the beginning of the year, where strategies for handling bullying situations are introduced and reviewed.
Each topic is tailored to meet the developmental needs of the students at each grade level.
