How are students referred to the counselor?

Students are usually referred by a teacher or a parent/guardian.
Before a student sees the counselor on a regular basis, parental
permission is obtained. Sometimes, students see the counselor
because they are on a discipline plan that requires three counseling
sessions to problem-solve and come up with strategies.
