Thanks for another great school year! Enjoy your summer vacation! Remember to
keep reading and practice your multiplication and division facts!
Monday, July 15 Summer School begins at Custer Elementary 8am-12pm
Wednesday, August 7 Summer School Ends
Tuesday, September 3 First Day of the 2013-2014 School Year
Please remember that attendace is crucial to the summer school program. There
are incentives for your child going to school each day aside from not getting
the summer slump (unlearning some important things) and gaining confidence to
do well in fourth grade.
I will be teaching summer school at Evergreen Elementary and unfortunately
will not be seeing our awesome Oakbrook students.
If you are going to be new to third grade at Oakbrook--spend some time
reading and making sure you are really strong at all your addition and
subtraction facts. It will make the fall that much easier. Students should be
able to mentally add and subtract numbers. One of the first units is adding
and subtracting up to five digit numbers (ten thousands place). If you are
already super familiar with adding and subtracting (not using fingers or
counters) start on memorizing multiplication facts 1, 2, 5, and 10s to start.
Then move on to 4, 11, 3, and 9s. Still got it move on to the "yucky" ones 6,
7, and 8s.
