Reading homework is given out every week by your child's Walk to Read
teacher. It is typically given out the first school day of the week and due
the final school day of the week. Each teacher may change this based on what
their particular class is working on.
Math homework. There will be math homework assigned based on the concept we
are learning and what areas need additional practice. Homework will only be
sent home about a concept once it has been covered in class. It will
typically be one worksheet page front to back. I try to make sure that there
are story problems on the homework pages as it helps students to be familiar
with them.
We will be working on Multiplication and Division facts this year. I will
begin teaching these hopefully late October. It is important that your child
know these. I will teach the whys of how multiplication works and what it is.
However, knowing the facts quickly and accurately will give your child
confidence when they are seen in story problems or a part of a multi-step
story problem.
