Mr. Snyder was born in February of 1951 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He spent
his younger years participating in sports and enjoying his annual trips
across town to watch the Indy 500. He received his B.S. from Ball State
University in Muncie, Indiana and his M.A. from the University of Northern
Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. Mr. Snyder moved to Olympia in 1979 and
started his teaching career. He has taught at the WA HE LUT Indian School,
the Olympia School District Options Program, the Olympia Community School,
and currently enjoys team teaching with Mr. Olmsted at Pioneer. He also taught
SCUBA diving and sea kayaking for The Evergreen State College Leisure
Education Program. Mr. Snyder's daughter, Rose graduated from
Capital High School in 2005 and the University of San Diego in 2009. Mr.
Snyder likes to spend time with his partner Suzanne and their dog Wally.
Mr. Olmsted was born in March of 1973 in New York City. His family then moved
to San Francisco where his sister was born. Shortly after that, they moved
back east and settled in Connecticut about an hour outside of New York City.
He attended Pitzer College in Claremont California where he majored in Art and
Environmental Studies. In 1997 he moved to San Francisco and became a
computer programmer. Olmsted met his wife in 2000 and they moved to Bozeman
Montana together where he returned to school to become a teacher. After
graduating from MSU, he moved to Olympia to begin his new career. He taught
5th grade at L.P. Brown Elementary for three years before coming over to
Pioneer. Mr. Olmsted loves hiking, camping, and surfing with his wife, and he
plays Ultimate Frisbee with a team here in Olympia.
