The children are going to be on a tight time schedule for writing essays in order to build up their rigor and writing skills. In order to do that, parent participation is important. Their writing schedule is:
In class on Monday, write short pre-write and begin Draft #1
In class on Tuesday, finish draft #1; take it home to parents and have parent help with edits and revisions.
In class on Wednesday, write draft# 2; turn a copy in to Ms. Moon and make copies for writing group.
Students will receive revisions from Ms. Moon and incorporate those with the ideas of their peers and type draft #3, which is due the following Monday morning.

Poetry -

The criteria for poems is: poems do not have to rhyme but they must have a sense of rhythm (remember the song lyrics that we worked with). Poems must have a minimum of three stanzas with four lines in each. All poems must be typed centered using any font and clip and word art as desired. Students are encouraged to play with various rhyme schemes that they were taught in class.

Submit poetry for revisions/edit to Ms. Moon at any time during the week. When you have your final ready for publishing, turn in one copy to Ms. Moon for a grade and color a border on another draft for publishing.

Extra Credit

Students who love to write my submit "manuscripts" at any time for extra credit.

( Remember that all drafts and revision papers MUST be stapled to the back of your best copy. You may turn work in earlier than the timeline, but NOT later! All papers must be one page minimum, typed, double spaced. Use Times Roman, Arial or Comic Sans MS fonts only. No Word Art or Clip Art is allowed on essays and stories, but students may make a cover sheet with Word Art or Clip Art and they may use any font or word art.
