Peter Pan information: Please read before you audition. Hello Actors and Families, It is very exciting that so many actors are interested in becoming part of the fun of our production of Peter Pan. Unfortunately this year the cast will be limited to 100 actors (last year there were about 200 actors in Little Engine). Because we have to put a limit on the number in the cast, auditions will be run a bit differently. Auditions: •Auditions will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 beginning at 3 PM. Non speaking roles will go first and in groups, followed by speaking roles going individually. Actors may leave once they have auditioned. Parents are welcome to attend auditions. •Actors interested in working crew need to check the “crew box” on the audition form and turn in all the paperwork. They do not need to audition. •To audition an actor must turn in this packet with all signatures. They can turn these in early to Ms. Van’s box on the stage or bring them on December 1st to auditions. •Once the speaking roles are cast and accepted, then a lottery will be held for the group roles. •If you audition for a speaking role and are not cast, your name will be placed in the lottery for a group role. You do not need to audition again. •Information on how to prepare for auditions is on the Peter Pan bulletin board; in the library and on Ms. Van’s website http://publicportal.lwsd.org/schools/rosaparks/vanblaricom/default.aspx •Hopefully all casting will be completed by Friday, December 11th. Rehearsals: Putting on a big production is a lot of work. Each actor has to be responsible to learn his/her lines and songs and know the blocking and then work with the whole cast to create a show that flows. Our rehearsal schedule is very tight and has little flexibility. Rehearsal: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from January 4, 2010 to March 19, 2010. •Mondays 3 – 4:15 •Tuesdays 3 – 4:15 •Wednesdays 1:30 – 3 PM •Monday March 15 & Tuesday March 16 – early release conference days so rehearsal is 11:30 – 1:30 and actors bring their lunch. •Performances are Thursday, March 18 and Friday, March 19 at 7 PM. •Students may not need to attend all rehearsals. Rehearsal dates are character dependent. Please check the Peter Pan bulletin board at school or Ms. Van’s website to see the rehearsal schedule for the roles you are interested in. It is very important that if you accept a role in Peter Pan you commit to being able to attend all rehearsals where your character is involved. This means: •If you are in other after school activities (chess club, scrapbooking, math club, piano lessons, keyboarding, other plays - Rosa Parks kids are involved in many cool activities) that you are willing to miss them when you have rehearsal and you won’t ask Ms. Van to be the exception. •If you can’t make this commitment, please don’t audition as you are keeping another actor who will make the commitment from participating. •Of course if you are sick we want you to stay home and get well! With everyone having a strong commitment to our production, we will have a fun time, learn a lot and produce a magical show! Parent Involvement: Parents will be asked to support the show by signing up for one of many, many jobs. This sheet will come home with your actor in January. Tuition for Peter Pan will be $60.00/actor. If this is a hardship, please talk to Ms. Van. Please sign below to show your understanding and acceptance of the commitment expected of actors in Peter Pan. ______________________________ ________________________________ Actor’s Signature Parent’s Signature Now, check out the character list on the Peter Pan bulletin board or my website; go to the library and read the script; fill out the form attached to this paper and turn this whole packet in to Ms. Van; prepare for your audition.
