Constitutional Issues for Students

 

Assignment:  Students will role play and summarize for the class a constitutional issue previously considered by a higher court in the United States.  Students working in pairs will present their role play then answer questions related to their assigned case.

 

Set the stage

(20 points)  Role-play your assigned scenario (wardrobe and props help!)

Identify the actors (you may use others in the class)

(20 points) Explain what happened and the behaviors of the officials without stating the Constitutional Issue.

(20 points) What became the question/issue that was presented to the court?

(20 points) What were the opposing arguments?

(20 points) What was decided and what was the final analysis from the majority opinion?

 

Students must be prepared to answer all questions related to their assigned court case. Students (pairs) will receive equal grades based on the quality of the role play presentation. Assignment value = 60 points.

Presentations begin December 4th.
