Procedure:
1) Choose a mathematician that worked in the field of Algebra, then get approval from Mr. Heimbigner.
2) Research this person through the internet. Find at least three different sources.
3) Write a report on the mathematician, you should include information on the following topics:
- Personal life
- Mathematical achievements including the relevance (What can the math be used for?)
- Impact on society
- Other intereting facts
4) Submit paper at least 3 days prior to the end of the quarter. Due dates are as follows:
1st quarter: October 27
2nd quarter: January 20
3rd quarter: March 25
4th quarter: June 5
Guidelines:
-Paper should be typed, spell checked, and edited.
- Include a cover page with the following information: title of paper, author, date, class name, dates of excused absences you are making up.
- Your paper will be 1/2 page in length for each excused absence during the 4th quarter. (If you had five excused absences your paper should be 2 1/2 pages long on a single mathematician)
- Use times new roman, 12 point font, double spaced lines, and standard margins. (I know all the tricks to make a paper longer, don't try.)
- Include references page, I am not picky about what format you use (MLA, APA…) as long as all important information is present.
-Credit is all or none; if your paper is unacceptable, (for lack of information, unedited...) I will ask you to redo it. This means you may want to submit your paper before the deadline. If I find plagiarism you will receive no credit and no second chance.

-Internet, for a starting point click on my Links page and you will find several sites that have biographical indexes of mathematicians.
