EALR's (Essential Academic Learning Requirements) and GLE's (Grade Level Expectations)
Washington State Learning Standards
Much of our spelling and grammar is tied to our reading curriculum. Additionally we will practice
communication skills in stations, engage in guided writing and proofreading lessons, and have
special times for independent reading and journaling during the week.
MacMillan/McGraw-Hill Reading
Information about our core math curriculum can be found here, though we'll be supplementing
often with extra practice and games to master basic operations.
Everyday Mathematics
The focus for third grade social studies is communities. The "interactive" lesson summaries are a
good place to check for homework help.
Houghton Mifflin Social Studies
Our first science unit will focus on "Water," especially on water's special properties and importance
for life. Later in the year we will be learning about the "Sun, Moon, and Stars."
Foss Modules Grades 3-6
We'll be learning and practicing cursive throughout the year.
Handwriting Without Tears
In addition to our prayers and special events, we'll be learning about religion on Mondays,
Wednesdays, and Fridays.
