Dear Parents,
Well, the countdown begins – just about a week until our dress rehearsal down at Newport High School. We still need lots of help!
SETS: We need to build the frames for the painted backdrops, finishpainting them, and make the beds for the orphans. We’ll be working on these Saturday afternoon, and after practices next week. Please let me know if you can help!
MOVING SETS: We have to move all of our props and sets down to the Theatre on Monday afternoon. I will rent a truck for this purpose, and we can load up earlier on Monday or on Sunday afternoon, depending on who’s available. Then we have to bring it all back that night after rehearsal, and then back down there on Thursday for the performance (we’re not allowed to leave it thereL) Please let me know if/when you would be available to help. MAKE-UP:
I will be scheduling some practice make-up sessions next week. I've explained to the students that wearing make-up on stage is important because the lights wash out your face, making you look ghostly and featureless. (It’s different than your home make-up, which just melts under the stage lights!) I will bring some stage make-up for these sessions. While some of the students may be able to apply their own make-up, many will not, so if you can help at Dress Rehearsal and/or the night of the performance – we need you! Our practice sessions will be Monday – 5:00 – 5:30, Tuesday, 5:00 – 5:30, or Wednesday, 6:00 – 6:30. Please have your child sign up for the time that works best for them.
COSTUMES – We could use some help organizing costumes. As soon as you put the pieces together for your child’s costume, please send them in so we can label them and hang them on the racks. We will begin practicing with some costumes next Wednesday, so the children get used to changing quickly between scenes. If you have any questions about your child’s costume, please call me (425-802-2168) or email me (smccarthy@stmadsophie.org) as soon as possible so we all have time to be ready. We need to be prepared for Monday as if it was the actual performance date, since it’s our only time to rehearse in that facility. Check my website for detailed information about costumes.
