Volleyball season is finally over and basketball has begun – sure signs that the holiday season is coming!

This Thursday is Thanksgiving, and if your family is planning to skip out early from school, please be sure to get a list of assignments from your student’s teacher.  It’s very rough coming back from Thanksgiving and having to play “catch-up” right away.

 

This week the middle school girls have a couple of basketball games:

Monday   3:30 at St. Rose

Tuesday 3:30 HOME against Monticello

 

As soon as we return from the four-day weekend there have the high school “Blue and White” basketball games.

Monday, November 30

5:30  girls’ scrimmage

7:00  boys’ scrimmage

Come for a preview of our high school basketball season!

 

Thank you for your help with Operation Christmas Child and our annual Turkey Trot.  We were able to ship out 42 shoe boxes through Samaritan’s Purse, and we were able to deliver 6 food baskets to our local Women’s Support Shelter.  It’s wonderful to see kids bring in the goods and we know they can only do this because of their parents.  Thank you.

 

IN THE CLASSROOM

 

Bible

We are currently studying the ten plagues inflicted upon Egypt when Pharaoh refused to let the Israelites leave their captivity.  This week we will discuss different aspects of the plagues and build accordion books illustrating the plagues.

 

Life Science

We are in Chapter 6 learning about genes and mitosis.  This week will we focus on the stages of cell division and different types of asexual reproduction (budding, regeneration, and spores).

 

Algebra 1

Math students have a test Tuesday that covers material through Lesson 37.  In addition, we will cover Lesson 41 today and spend Wednesday “practicing” math concepts already taught.

 

Physical Science

Today the 9th graders and I will review Chapter 6 in preparation for their chapter test tomorrow.  On Wednesday we will begin our next chapter on the Periodic Table of Elements!

 

Earth Science

Chapter 12 is entitled, Science, Faith, and Reason.  In this chapter we will look at our philosophy of science – having a Bible-derived framework and distinguishing between science and faith.

We will cover the whole chapter in three days and jump into a study of the lithosphere when we return from the holiday break.
