| Congratulations to all of you who have signed up to participate in the second annual MMS Battle of
the Books! Battle of the Books will begin in January and end in early April. Here are the steps to
being involved:
Step 1 - Form a team by TBD (to be determined)
3-5 students
Multi-grade, multi-team is okay
Sign up in library - team name and individual members
Step 2 - Read books by TBD
Titles will be released for check out TBD
Each member must read one book minimum
All twelve titles must be read
Individuals may only have one BOB book checked out at a time, for one week at a time. No renewals.
Step 3 - Take AR tests by TBD
Access AR through Library website (AR/Renaissance Place icon)
Pass tests with 60% or higher
Report your score to Ms. Merrigan who will record it on your team AR sheet
Each member must pass one test minimum
All twelve tests must be passed
Step 4 - Train your brains
Concentration cards and sample questions will be available beginning TBD
Team practice sessions in the library with snacks provided, week of TBD
Step 5 - Intra-school Battles
Week of TBD, eligible teams will compete in round robin battles
Trivia questions about the books, answered with title and author (“In which book…”)
Prizes for all participants, and a grand prize for the winning team
Step 6 - Inter-school Battle
Week of TBD - Hosted by Marshall Library
Winning Marshall team will compete against Reeves, Jefferson, and Washington winning teams
Winning school takes home the trophy!
Step 7 - School assembly
After spring break
Winning Marshall team competes against MMS staff team (this is still in the works...) | |
