Each week on Monday your child will bring home a green homework
folder. In this folder is a homework packet to be completed and returned by
the end of the week. The homework may be returned any time during the week as
long as I get it back by Friday. Included in the folder will be a newsletter,
a behavior progress report, and any other important notes.
Along with the regular weekly homework packet, your child will be
given reading group homework. It is their small group "magazine" with a half
sheet of paper attached. This may come home any day of the week depending on
when your child's group completes each unit (usually every six to twelve
days). The purpose of this homework is for your child to practice their
reading at home. Please listen as they read each page of the magazine several
times and initial in the box on the half sheet of paper. You may want to have
your child work on this for more than one day. When your child can easily read
each page, have them return the white initialed sheet to school. They will
receive a certificate and a free book for each one they return. Keep the
magazine at home for future practice.
Thank you so much for helping your child at home. The time you
spend with your child on homework is so valuable. You can have a huge impact
on their success at school.
