Class Expectations

 

            Dear SciTech Student and Parent,

Welcome to the first quarter of the Washington Middle School 6th grade SciTech
class. In this class students will learn technology literacy skills as part of
the 6th grade Science curriculum.  One quarter will focus on integrating
technology into the subject of the Solar System.  The other quarter will focus
on Oceanography.  Below is an overview of the course content.

The Solar System and the Sun Earth Moon System

Technology integration: learning mind mapping with Inspiration software
	Expanding our knowledge
Technology integration: using the Internet for research, appropriate use of
technology
	Becoming an expert
		Technology integration: creating a Sun-Earth-Moon Systems project

Oceanography
	Learning abut sea creatures and our oceans
		Technology integration: research strategies, copyright guidelines
	Sharing our knowledge
Technology integration: delivering an effective multi-media presentation with
PowerPoint
	What have we learned?
		Technology integration: creating a culminating web page

By following the expectations listed below, we will make sure that learning
takes place in an enjoyable environment:
Expectation #1: There is no such thing as a dumb question. You can be sure
that someone else has asked the same question!
Expectation #2: We learn from each other. No one is an expert on everything.
Expectation #3:  Respect the technology.  Please leave the equipment in the
same condition you find it.  When something doesn’t work, we will solve the
problem together.
Expectation #4: Always use appropriate netiquette. We will learn about
this.)
