Does my student have any homework?

Yes! Students are expected to read about 20-30 minutes each night.

Additionally, students have a reading skills assignment every day except Fridays.

However, there is no homework for my history classes.

What can my student do to improve his/her grade?

1) Turn in any missing work, even if it is incomplete or
imperfect!
Often, students shove papers into their backpacks or binders,
completely forgetting to give them to their teacher. Set a time
once a week for binder cleaning. Put all papers which need to be
returned into a separate section or folder and send it back to
school.
2) Any time a student is unhappy with his/her grade, especially on
a test, he/she simply needs to come talk to me and ask for the
opportunity to re-take it. I actively encourage my students to
show me what they know and can do, especially if they didn't get
it right the first time.
