I. Our goals for the students:

to learn the importance of physical fitness and exercise

Class rules:
-
Be prepared-- (no books or pencils, use restroom before PE etc.)

Be punctual -- (hustle over to PE class, wait quietly for instructions)

Be courteous -- (to the teacher and to each other)
-
Give PE your best shot -- (a student is not compared with another
student. Everyone has different skills and
abilities.)

Smile and have fun
III. Curriculum
-
Games and activities are planned to involve everyone. Stand-around
time is minimal.
-
Step-by-step and building-on skills are taught in each unit.
Example: Soccer Unit -
rules
-
skills ( dribbling, passing,
trapping etc..)
-
line soccer (1/2 field, using
skills taught)
-
zone soccer (teaches position play )
-
regular soccer game
- Activities include some of the
following: soccer, football, volleyball, tumbling, ropes, basketball, track
& field, softball, team handball, floor hockey, games (capture the flag,
dodgeball, trees, kickball etc.), fitness testing (12 minute run, 400 meter
dash, 1 minute sit-ups, 30 seconds push ups).
