Mrs.Myriam McClellan-Spanish
Hello! My name is Mrs. Myriam McClellan. I am excited to be joining the
Christ King community. I truly value the partnership in the educational
process and I am looking forward to working with your children.
Prior to coming to Christ King School, I worked at St.Bruno’s Catholic
school in Dousman and Brookfield Academy in Brookfield. In addition, I also
teach Spanish at Waukesha County Technical College. I received my
Bachelor’s Degree from Cardinal Stritch University.
I reside in Waukesha with my three children, Jessica, Brittany, Aaron and my
husband Quinn. I enjoy various activities, but my passion is reading!! l
love watching my kids do all the activities that they are involved in.
Jessica is a passionate dancer, Brittany is a brilliant gymnast and swimmer
and Aaron is spectacular soccer player.
I am looking forward to nurturing and working with your children and the
community of Christ King School.

TEACHER TALK
An informative newsletter from your child’s Spanish Teacher
Hello parents! My name is Mrs.McClellan. Welcome to all students to an
exciting new school year. I am excited to be teaching at Christ King.
Previously, I had been teaching at St.Bruno’s, in Dousman for the last three
years and at Brookfield Academy for two years.
I would like to share some information with parents and students. I arrive
at school around 7:30 and leave at 3:15. Please feel free to email me at
helloq3kids@yahoo.com.
EXTRA HELP: I will give some extra time for students to start in on the
assignment that was assigned. I am available for extra help per the request
of each individual student. I will return calls and/or emails as soon as I
am able. I will gladly assist your child with any academic questions that
they may have.
I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO OUTLINE MY EXPECTATIONS FOR THE
UPCOMING YEAR.
Assignment notebooks/homework: Please take a few moments each night to have
your child show you what they wrote in their assignment notebook for that
day’s activities. Students are responsible for writing in the homework that
is posted on the board. Long-term assignments and their due dates should
appear in their assignment notebook on the day they were assigned.
Communication: The assignment notebook is used as a form of communication. I
use this as the first step communicating to parents. I also see this as a
great tool for parents to communicate with me. It could be used when a phone
call isn’t needed.
Discipline: Classroom discipline is the responsibility of each student. We
strive to create a secure, orderly school climate for each child, and I
extend this climate into the classroom. To promote this effective learning
environment, the students and I will be going over rules and
responsibilities that will comprise a standard of expected student behavior.
(please see attached)
A United Front: Parents, the education of your child will be a joint
responsibility best achieved through mutual sharing. I value your
partnership in the educational process and thank you in advance for your
assistance. If you have any questions, please come in and talk, write a note
in the assignment notebook, or email me. Here’s to a wonderful year!!
ASSIGNMENTS AND GRADING
Spanish grades are based solely on academic achievement-measured through
students’ daily assignments and homework. There will be some tests and
quizzes, with most evaluation of students learning coming in the form of
relevant and challenging projects and written tasks. Assignments and
activities will encourage higher learning thinking and will not be used as a
tool to keep students busy.
Grading:
Daily Homework: 40%
Long/Short term projects: 30%
Tests/Quizzes 20%
Daily participation: 10%
LOWER AND MIDDLE SCHOOL (2nd through 5th)
BEHAVIOR CONTRACT
The following contract was developed by the students. Each classroom was
responsible for developing rules and we picked the top 6 that each student
thought would be the best. They each signed the contract and should always
keep it in class.
SPANISH CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR CONTRACT
We will obey the following classroom rules.
1. No touching any materials that do not belong to me.
2. No talking when the teacher is talking. I will respect my teacher
and always be a good listener.
3. Always raise your hand.
4. No talking when classmates are talking. I will respect my fellow
classmates and always be a good listener.
5. Always come prepared and ready to learn.
6. Always have homework completed and turned in on time.
-Make sure you read your contract often so it is a reminder of how you
should behave in Spanish class all the time. Sign your contract and keep it
in your Spanish folder. I may ask you to take your contract out to remind
you. If I ask you to take your contract out repeatedly during Spanish
class, I will be contacting your parents and eventually may lead to a
demerit.
I,_______________________, promise to try my best follow my contract.
