| President’s Corner:
My, how this year has flown by! Summer is right around the corner, but before
we ride off into the sunset of another great County Line year there are events
to recap, thank yous to give and introductions to be made. First up, at our
May meeting it was decided to purchase a few new items for our school’s use.
The Publishing Center is getting a new, MUCH needed binding machine to help
assemble the curriculum enhancing (and sometimes surprise gifts for parents)
books it makes. The purchase of this binder will also mean the teachers will
have a better machine available for their use in the copy room, as the one
that currently resides there is not very efficient or effective. Also, Mr.
Krueger had requested the purchase of additional step ladders so that each
grade level has one just for their use, as sometimes availability of the ones
we have was a problem. Mr. Seghers informed the group that the district had
approved this purchase (but we approved it also just in case something falls
through with the district dollars ). So by the beginning of the new school
year all the teachers should have a step ladder available whenever they need
it. The meeting ended with some food and socialization. Thanks to those who
attended (and to those who helped me out that night)! Thank you also to
everyone who attended meetings and made their voices heard for the betterment
of our school community this year. We count on our members to share their
opinions, bring us new ideas and volunteer their time and talents to run our
programs. So again, thank you to those who rise to that challenge! Sincere
thanks goes out to every person who volunteered at an event, worked on a
committee, popped popcorn, helped at the book fair, gave their time to a PTA
sponsored program or donated something to support our PTA. We truly appreciate
all that our members do to help us throughout the year. I need to give a long
over due THANK YOU to Dave Christensen’s Dragon Patrol of Pack 271 for
building some much needed shelves in our storage shed. The shelves have
really helped with organization and we heard you had fun building them while
learning a valuable skill. We wish you continued adventures now that you are
Boy Scouts
I would also like to thank our exiting Board Members: Lisa Burmeister, for
her two years of service as Secretary; Patti Chapman, who served the PTA for
two years as Secretary and then two terms as Treasurer; and Shari Rodriguez
who gave four years of service to this board as Treasurer, Co-President and
Vice President 1. Your dedication to our kids and donation of your time and
talents are greatly appreciated! Lastly, I would like to thank Mr. Seghers
for the time he gives to assisting with our meetings and events, and
especially for being the kind of principal who shares his talents with our
students while having fun right along with them.
Now on to the introductions…I am pleased to announce the new PTA Board
Officers for the 2008 – 2009 school year: Vice President 1: Linda Dreger; Vice
President 2: Cathy Plank; Treasurer: Susie Winters and Secretary: Rita
Schuetz. Thank you all for volunteering to help run our PTA. I look forward
to working with you in the new school year, as I carry out my second term as
President.
Have a safe, happy and at least slightly educational summer ! As always, I
am available to answer questions, hear comments and suggestions or help
develop new ideas of ways to improve our PTA.
