January 4 – 15, 2010

 

Literature

As the students learn about the Greek culture in social studies, they will learn about Greek mythology in literature.  During this unit, they will have the opportunity to read 12-15 different mythical stories and learn about Greek gods and goddesses.  I highly recommend that during this time period students read The Lighting Thief, which a popular Battle Book.

 

Language Arts

The students will be tested on the verb chapter on January 14^th.  (There will be a quiz over lessons 1, 2, 3 on January 6^th.)

 

Writing – The next writing genre we will cover will be fictional narrative writing.  The students will have an opportunity to create their own myths.

 

Vocabulary

Unit 3 test is on January 8^th.  The review test for Units 1, 2, 3 is on January 15^th.

 

Independent Reading

Are you working on “The 40 Book Challenge”?  A Battle Book and a book of your choice summaries are due on January 6^th.  KEEP READING!
