What do the grades "O", "S", "P", and "N" mean on a report card?
"O" stands for outstanding achievement. This grade is reserved for those students who exceed grade level requirements/ability. Very few should fall into this category. "S" stands for secure ability. This grade is for those students who show a solid grasp of the material at an appropriate grade level. Many students will fall into this category. "P" means progressing. This grade is for students who display a movement toward understanding. This student is performing sometimes at grade level and sometimes below grade level, yet still shows some progress in learning. Quite a few students will fall into this category. "N" means that a student is lacking progression towards the musical goal. This grade is given in extremely rare instances.Back to Top
