May Newsletter Dear Parents, This letter contains some important reminders for some upcoming events including our trip to First of all a volunteer is needed to supervise the 7th grade class during our faculty lunch on Wednesday May 6th. If you can help out please talk to the head room parent for specific details. Thanks. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of the students and parents who helped support our mission at St. Jude through the Math-a-thon. The seventh grade class showed a tremendous effort to help raise over $800 for cancer research. Thank you for a job well done. The 7th grade class will once again be helping out with graduation this year. Your son or daughter will be expected to help out before, during, or after the graduation reception held on June 5th in our Gym. Please keep the date open on your calendar. Several parent volunteers will also be needed. We are looking for Track and Field day volunteers. Please return the slip that is attached to the TNT if you can help out on May 12th. Track and Field Day at Milwaukee Lutheran is on May 26th , starting at 9:00a.m. Here is one more date to add to your calendars. On Thursday May 21st the seventh grade has volunteered to help out with Summerfest planting. Some chaperones will be needed to help supervise and for transportation to and from Summerfest grounds. A permission slip with more details and times will be coming home soon. Mid-term grades will be sent out next Wednesday. If there are any concerns about those grades please feel free to stop by school or give me a call. The end of the year is quickly approaching. When buying a new supply of lunch tickets, make sure you are not over buying, because extra tickets cannot be used for the next school year. Here are the details of the In Christ, Mr. Kaelberer __________________________________________________________ Dear Parents and Students,
Some real quick updates:
-We recently completed the Math-a-thon for St. Jude. It was our main mission for the 7th grade class. I was extremely pleased with the 12 students who participated and raised over $800 to support cancer research. But, I do have to say that I was also disappointed with the remaining 9 students who apparently couldn't raise even a single dollar in pledges. I know we are all blessed differently, and that some are struggling more that others at this time, but I also feel that it is important for our young adults to understand the concept of sacrifice, and also that God has blessed us with the abilities to help others.
-The end of the year trip to Green Bay is set for June 2nd. Most of the trip will be paid for with the money that was raised during last summer's commedy club fundraiser. I will try and get cost and additional details out soon, especially for those who did not participate in that fundraiser. The trip usually is from about 7:30 am until around 7:30 or 8:00 PM. We will need several drivers and chaperones for the trip. Drivers will be reimbursed for their gas expenses, but this will still help keep the cost down as opposed to renting a coach bus.
-I will pass on more Summerfest Planting Info. as I receive it. That date again is May 21st. Again, I will need several volunteers to transport students for that event.
-The students took an English and Religion test today. Those results should be coming home soon. Next week's lesson plans are not quite finished, but I do not see any major tests coming up this week.
-I hope you are enjoying the great weather.
In Christ, Mr. Kaelberer ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 4-3-09 Dear Parents and Students,
This week of testing went great! With very few absences, we finished most of our testing. We will complete the few remaining tests on Monday, and then return to a normal schedule for the rest of the week.
Because of the quarter just getting under way and achievement tests this week, we won't have to many major activities yet this coming week. The Pre-Algebra students will most likely have a chapter test on Thursday.
Save the date! If you have a green thumb and would like to help plant flowers at the Summerfest grounds, that would be great. We have volunteered our service for the morning of May 21st. I am looking for 4 or 5 parents to help out with planting and transportation of students to the grounds.
I still need to finalize some arrangements for the end of the year field trip, but will try and get the details for that our soon.
Don't forget to sign up to help out at this year's Booster Club Volleyball Tournament in the end of April.
In Christ, Mr.Kaelberer

Dear Parents and Students,
Some real quick updates on important events:
-Tuesday the 31st we will begin achievement tests. A good breakfast and a good night's sleep are very important for your child's success. -Wednesday, April 1st, report cards for the third quarter will be sent home. -Enjoy your week off, we will see you on the 30th.
Mr. Kaelberer +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 3-13-09
Dear Parents and Students,
Sorry about the formatting, but I will need some technical help to get my web page back to normal. I think our attempt to show the picture of the quilt has messed some things up. Sorry if you were unable to view the picture. The quilt and bench both turned out great. Hopefully you will get a chance to see them at the auction. The only test coming up next week will be English. If we spend two days reviewing, the test should be on Wednesday. Don't forget we sing next Wednesday at the 4:00 service. Next Friday is the end of the second quarter, but report cards will not be sent home until the Wednesday after Spring Break. Enjoy your week and students enjoy your week off.
In Christ, Mr. Kaelberer _________________________________________________________ 3-9-09 Dear Parents and Students, Correction! Correction! Correction! I am sorry to say that I printed the wrong date for the next time that we sing in my last newsletter. We will sing again with the 8th grade next Wednesday, the 18th during the 4:00 service. As the last newsletter stated we have had some problems with students and their commitment to worship when we sing. It happened again this Sunday, so I will state it once again. Students are expected to stay and worship their Lord and Savior when they sing in church. The only exceptions to this would be a schedule conflict or a plan to attend a full service at a different time with their parents. If parents are not able attend with their children, I will be glad to supervise the children until after the service. I would also gladly supervise your child if he or she chooses to stay through after school. They will be required to stay in the 7th grade room until it is time to practice before the service in the church. Sorry again for any confusion that may have been created. See you next week. In Christ, Mr.Kaelberer ********************************************************** 3-6-09
Dear Parents, (scroll over, sorry about the format this week)
The most important reminder for the week is that we sing in church on Sunday at the 8:00 service. Please have you children in the balcony by 7:45. Don' forget to turn those clocks back, or you will be late. They will also be singing during the Wednesday afternoon Lenten service next week. Last time we sang for a 4:00 service we had some problems with wandering children. Your children are expected to stay through the whole service and worship. If they would like to stay for soup they are more than welcome to. If you are able to attend the worship service, please have your child join you for the remainder of the service. Thanks for your help.
We have a very important Religion Test on Tuesday. Don't forget to study.
I am still collecting donations for our bench for the auction. We will just be autographing a basketball instead of a basket this year. There is a special letter and attachment of a picture of our quilt later in this letter. You may have to scroll from side to side to get a good picture of it. Have fun pre-bidding if you don't get a chance to make it to the auction.
I hope your child enjoyed all of the special activities during Lutheran Schools Week.
In Christ, Mr. Kaelberer
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Dear Parents and Students, We are down to three final weeks in the third quarter. Look for some important tests and projects to be coming up over the next few weeks. Here are some of the academic highlights for next week. Monday: Unit #6 English Review Tuesday: Final Test in English Wednesday: Math Geo-Art Project Thursday: Pre-Algebra Chapter 7 Test Friday: Final Review for O.T. Religion Test (test next Tuesday) Auction Updates: Our bench has been stained, varnished, and constructed. Now we just need to add our personal touch. We are going with a rustic, outdoors theme this year. I am still looking for someone to help out with a classroom basket. We are still planning on donating an autographed basketball. We could include that as part of a sports basket, or skip the basket and do just the ball. If you would like to donate towards either the class basket or the bench, please send your money in an envelope marked “7th grade auction donations”. Three to five dollars per person would help cover the cost of the bench as well as add to a basket. Thanks for any help that you can give. Lutheran Schools Week: Please check out all of the special activities for next week that are listed in the TNT. A special activity or performance has been planned for each day of the week. Come help us celebrate by having breakfast with your child on Wednesday. Have a great week! Mr.Kaelberer *************************************************************** 2-21-09 Dear Parents and Students, Auction updates: I was able to purchase our class project for the auction at a great price during the week. We will be constructing and decorating a storage bench similar to last years. We discussed possibly doing a sports theme for our basket and could include an autographed basketball. It would be great if I could get a parent or two to head up the project, and come up with some more ideas for the basket, as well as, collect and organize donations. We have several special activities planned for Lutheran Schools Week the first week of March. A letter with more details and a permission slip were sent home on Friday. We don't have any major tests coming up this week. We may have a Red Group Math quiz late in the week. Pastor Squires informed me that some of the Confirmation Mid-terms were wrong and he will get things straightened out next week. Sorry for the confusion. We will give most of our athletes one week off, and then V-ball begins the first week of March. I hope everyone is enjoying our return to winter. In Christ Mr. Kaelberer ******************************************************************* 2-20-09 Hello All, It was a busy Friday, so I will try and get some highlights for next week done tomorrow or Monday. Mr. K. Happy Valentines Day to All, The short party was a success. Thanks to all who brought treats, and especially to Mrs. Totsky for helping out at the party. Believe it or not we are already near the halfway point of the 3rd quarter, so Mid-Terms will be coming home next Wednesday. Once again, if you have any questions or concerns about those grades, don't hestitate to contact me by phone or e-mail. The end of b-ball is in sight, but just around the corner the volleyball season will begin. No rest for the weary, I guess. Keep an eye on the TNT for practice schedules for that. Important events for next week include: Monday: No School: Teacher In-Service Day Tuesday: We begin a new reading novel and unit called "The Sign of the Beaver". Wednesday: Red Group will have a short math test for chapter 7. Thursday: Pre-Algebra Math Quiz Friday: Comparison and Contrast papers are due. The quilt squares are off to the quilters for finishing touches. Now we need to choose a theme for our class basket. We will also be purchasing, constructing, and finishing a bench. So each child will be asked to contribute to either the auction basket or cash for the bench. Thanks for your ideas and support in advance. I hope the Ablaze Bible Stick project is going well. We will be collecting them during Lutheran School's Week if they have not been passed on by then. In Christ, Mr.Kaelberer ***************************************************************** 2-6-09 Dear Parents and Students, Important Activities next week: Monday: Review for "Woodsong" Test. Tuesday: "Woodsong" final test. Wednesday: Assign Comparison and Contrast Paper, and Pre-Algebra Math Test Friday: O.T. Religion Test (worth 50% of quarter grade) I only received imput from one person about auction ideas that I referred to in the last newsletter. I would really like some more input and possibly a couple of volunteers to help organize a basket or two. We have made good progress on our quilt squares this week. It should be interesting to see how it turns out when it is all put together. The students should be on about day 10 in their Bible Stick listening activities. Our goal is to have our listening done by Lutheran Schools Week in the beginning of March, so that we can pass them on at that time. We will be having a short class Valentines Party next Friday. Look for more info. from the room parents next week. Students may bring individual valentines or treats if they wish, as long as they bring one for everyone in the class. Enjoy the spring-like weather, and let's focus on sharing God's love during the month of February. In Christ, Mr. K. ****************************************************************************************** 1-30-09 Dear Parents and Students, Monday: Student Evaluation of Fantasy Story is due. Tuesday: Last Presidential Fitness Test (Push-ups) Wednesday: Red Group Math will review for test. Thursday: Final Test for Red Group Math Friday: Final copy of Fantasy Story is due. I am still looking for some parent input for auction projects. We will be putting a quilt together with a theme of sports and hobbies. The 7th grade will also be puttng a basket or two together. I would like some theme ideas for the baskets so we can start gathering some donations. I am also wondering if there is interest in purchasing and finishing a wooden bench again this year for the auction. This would be in addition to the baskets and quilt, and would require some cash donations for the original purchase. Please let me know your thoughts! Mission news: Bible Sticks were sent home over a week ago. The upper grade students were asked to listen to the entire New Testament, and then will be asked to pass them on to someone else who might benefit from them. Several handouts have also been sent home about these Bible Sticks. Hopefully all is going well, and that you have chosen someone to pass them on to when you are finished in March. I look forward to hearing from you about auction ideas. In Christ Mr. Kaelberer 1-26-09 Dear Parents and Students, Sorry for the delay in the last few letters. With a cold day Friday off and the tournament Friday it has been a very busy few weeks. We will try to get back into the swing of things with a full week of school this week. As far as major assignments or tests go, we don't have much due this week. The Pre-Algebara group will most likely have a quiz on Wednesday. I will expect a first draft of their fantasy stories by this coming Friday, and the final copy will be due in a week or two. Thank you to all who helped out at the tournament this weekend. We would never be able to pull it off without the help of all of the parents and volunteers. Congratulations to all of the teams and their efforts this weekend. I think everyone had a great time. Now that we are getting closer to the end of b-ball season we can look closer at the auction, which is quickly approaching. The TNT was sent home today and it contained some information encouraging each Immanuel Family to donate something to the auction. We will also be collecting items for a basket, and making a class quilt. We chose sports/hobbies for our quilt, and now I am looking for ideas for a basket or two. I was wondering if we still want to do another class project, like the bench, this year in addition to the other donations. Please let me know your thoughts. In Christ Mr. Kaelberer ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 1-9-09 Dear Parents and Students, I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas Break. We are back into the thick of things again at school. Next week Friday will be the end of the second quarter, so that means one more round of tests and major grades this coming week. Tuesday: Begin P.E. fitness testing, and Old Testament Religion Test (50% of Quarter Grade) Wednesday: Final Test for "Narnia" our lastest reading novel, and Pre-Algebra Math Test Thursday: English Chapter #4 Test, and Reading Vocab. Quiz Report cards will be sent out the following Wed. January 24th. I would like to thank all of the students and parents for the wonderful Christmas gifts. My wife and I will really enjoy the numerous restaurant gift cards. The class gift of a Cabelas gift card was also great. The many other Cabelas cards and other gift cards will also be put to good use. The cookies, candies, and other treats were also deliscious. Thank you for all that you do for Immanuel, and the staff here, and especially for being so generous this Christmas. Both of the seventh grade boys and girls teams will be particpationg in this year's PTL Tournament. I hope to see many of you there. Thanks for volunteering and being around to support our teams. This page will be updated on a weekly basis with important events, reminders, and upcoming activities in the classroom. Weekly newsletters will be posted here, but will not be sent home on paper copies in most cases. Updates will be available on Friday afternoon or Monday morning for that week. I hope you are all looking forward to a great school year. Schedules for football and softball practices for the first two weeks will be available at registration next week Thursday the 21st. The two time slots for registration include 11:00-1:30 and 6:00-8:00. I hope everyone is enjoying their last full week of summer vacation. See you soon. Don't forget to stop by the Booster table to check out the NEW Lions spirit wear. In Christ, Mr. Kaelberer | ||||||
