Fourth Grade Family News

May 15, 2009

A huge Thank You to all of the parents who drove us to the movie on Monday and/or helped out at Track and Field Day. We couldn’t have done either without you and we had a blast at both! Next week is actually a 5 day work week for the children! I will be gone next Wednesday through Friday as we are going to Washington D.C for our son’s graduation from law school. He has worked hard for four years working full time for the US Patent office and a law firm and going to school at night, so we are going to celebrate that. Join us in thanking God for his accomplishments!

The test on all 50 states and capitals is on June 3rd. The children need to label a blank map with the state names and complete a list of the capitals for each state. Study now if these are still not mastered!

We have begun our study of Wisconsin as our Midwest region focus. During the last week of school we have a 4th Grade Wisconsin State Fair to celebrate our great state and our study of it. For the exhibits at the fair every child will make a poster on a topic important to Wisconsin. The children have all picked their Wisconsin topic. The poster will need to include specifics on the topic and include illustrations relative to it. Items related to the topic may also be displayed at the fair with the poster. The fair will be held on June 2nd. The information on the fair is in the Friday Folder. We will need food donations to make our fair a real Wisconsin event!

The Spring Concert is on Friday, May 29th at 1:30 P.M. The fourth graders will play their recorders for this concert. The band teacher, Mrs. Weidner, would like to meet with fourth graders and their parents following the concert about the band program available to them next year.

The fourth graders who were involved in basketball or handbells are invited to the Awards Night on Tuesday evening. They will receive a certificate of participation. Refreshments are served at 6:00 and the program begins at 6:30 P.M.
