Homework and Late Work Guidelines
In general, all assignments are due the next day unless the students are
given different instructions. This is discussed with the students when the
assignment is given.
The policy for late work is as follows:
If a student is sick s/he has as many days as they were absent to complete
the assigned work.
If a student is negligent about turning work in on time, the original score
will be adjusted by one letter grade for each day late. If the assignment
is three days late the student will receive a not passing (NP) score.
A parental request for make-up work prior to a vacation often times results
in an incomplete listing of work actually accomplished while the student was
absent. For this reason, I prefer to give all assigned work upon the
student’s return to school. Spelling units are the exception. Thanks for
understanding.
Assignment notebooks have been purchased by all of the students. Students
record their daily assignments in them. I do try to check each day that
they have been filled in accurately.
Classroom Rules:
No one has the right to prevent someone else from learning
Expectations:
1. Be a good listener
2. When you want to talk, raise your hand wait to be called on.
3 Complete assigned work on time.
4. No teasing or belittling another person.
5. Be prepared for class
6. Good manner will be used always.
7. All tests are to be signed and returned the next day. The only
exception is the spelling tests.
If a student violates one of the classroom rules, it will have some follow-
through during non-classroom time, e.g. noon recess. Occasionally the
student will have to write a note home to their parents. These are to be
signed and returned to me the next day. If I deem necessary, a phone call
will be made home. Please take a few minutes each day to check your
child’s assignment notebook and make sure the work is completed.
