May NewsWe are approaching the end of the year very quickly. May is a busy month, filled with fun activities and many cool lessons. In northern Wisconsin, we love the refreshing Spring air and are welcoming the much needed sunshine. We will be wrapping up our Science Fair projects for May 18th and showing the judges our SCIENTIFIC SKILLS! We have just started the St. Jude's Math-a-thon and this will end on May 14th. Remember to collect as many pledges as possible and continue to work on your Math Booklet. St. Jude's is an amazing place and it is always worth it to do math for a good cause.Last week in Reading Workshop we shared Story Boxes to highlight our favorites parts of our books that we have been reading. These fifth graders are amazing artists and very creative! This month in Math we will be finishing up addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of fractions. We will move into measurement and geometetry to finish up the year. In Science we are finishing a chapter on rocks for Earth Science. In Social Studies, we are still working on our early American time lines AND learning all fifty states and capitals.Recently, we changed our Reading Workshop by trying out Reader's Theater....these very 'dramatic' kiddos got into their roles and loved the acting part of it! We had a blast! We have a countdown of only about 29 days of school left! :)
