Reflection

This nutrition WebQuest will greatly enhance the nutrition unit I teach as part of the health curriculum.  It is an incredible tool because it incorporates technology while emphasizing current nutritional guidelines.  By using the Internet I was able to add many components to this project.  The first component I added was research.  Students will use webpages to navigate through and find valuable information that our textbook does not always have.  Another important component is interactivity.  Students are going to complete an interactive activity on day 2 that would not have been possible if the Internet wasn't involved.  The Internet also adds the component of options.  The students will have options to choose from when they are completing both the scavenger hunt and their general research.  I feel that because of these various components, this lesson clearly and effectively integrates the Internet in an appropriate way.

I chose to break the process into days because I wanted students to be able to locate their tasks easily.  This will allow them to stay focused on the tasks at hand on a day-to-day basis.  The students do not have individual roles to complete, however there is still a group component as evidence through the final project.

As you can see from the standards section, many standards were addressed with this WebQuest.  Those standards will be assessed using the rubrics that I created.  By creating my own rubrics, I was able to ensure that the students would be assessed on the objectives I set for them.

In general, I am very proud of this project.  It is the first WebQuest I have created.  I am really looking forward to using it with students in the very near future.  I know that they will have high motivation to complete this project because it incorporates the Internet.
