USA STATE
TOURISM CONVENTION
Part of the 4th grade Social Studies
curriculum involves studying the different regions of the United States. Each
student in our class and Mr. Kliss's class chose a state to research and then
became the state tourism director for that state. First we read books and
researched using the internet so we could write our reports. Next we created a
large map of our state and labeled the capital, major cities, and important
landforms. Then we designed timelines to show important dates about each
state. In addition, we wrote letters to the real state tourism directors and
received brochures, pamphlets, and maps. As a culmination, we held a USA
State Tourism Convention and invited other
students and our families to visit us at our state booth. They were amazed to
see all of the work we had done and and what we had learned!!
