Ms. Mahaffey has taught for 35 years. She has a strong background in non-
traditional teaching methods and practices. She spent 20 years in Milwaukee
Public Schools where she served as Curriculum Coordinator at 38th Street
Open Education School. Ms. Mahaffey has a Master's Degree in Curriculum and
Instruction and received National Board Certification and her Master Teacher
License in 2003. She and Ms. Cassidy began the multiage program at Lake
Bluff School eight years ago. Ms. Mahaffey has an adult daughter,son-in-
law and two goofy dogs.
Ms. Cassidy graduated from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee with a
double major in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Exceptional
Education. She earned a Masters Degree from Cardinal Stritch University in
reading instruction. She spent three years teaching at St.Francis Children's
Center, working with students between the ages of seven and eleven before
accepting the position of multiage teacher at Lake Bluff. She is married and
has an amazing son, Liam. She lives with her husband, son and cat in New
Berlin.
