Dear Parent(s),
This week will be filled with many different and interesting learning
opportunities. We will learn about and do a few Veteran's Day activities
after listening to a Veteran share his story with the whole school. We will
be meeting with Sister Joan Marie (Father's sibling) and we will get to read
with our 5K Special Friends.
I have been receiving many different things for our soldiers.
Please consider sending some holiday greetings and items to those who protect
and serve for our country. I have received a lot of candy and tooth paste.
Socks, Christmas decorations, letters or Christmas cards made by the kids
would be other items to consider. Thank you! Items must be sent by no later
than November 23rd.
Please remember that there will be a Math Night next week Monday
evening at 5:45 and I will be having a Mickey Mouse Day on Wednesday. Thank
you for the many offers to donate items to accompany the "Mickey Mouse"
pancakes that I will be serving. The children may only want to eat a light
breakfast on our special day.
We are going to start a new unit in science with the theme of the
sun, stars and moon. We will blast off into many fun activities! If anyone
would like to donate "freeze dried" food like what the astronauts eat, you
can find it in the camping section at Fleet Farm. We will be nearing that
section of our text in a few weeks. So, items may be sent in anytime
between now and the beginning of December.
In Religion, we are continuing to talk about the sacrament of
Reconciliation and will be having this sacrament with Father sometime during
Advent. Please work on the Apostle's Creed and the Hail Mary with your
child. Most of the children have these prayers memorized and I am very proud
of them.
Math is moving along well. We are working hard to memorize our
multiplication facts. Keep practicing!
Our Social Studies unit right now is focusing on various Native
American Tribes. We will be listening to music, creating rain sticks,
working with clay, and illustrating buffalo drawings. We will soon begin to
venture into Pilgrim territory and will learn all about the First
Thanksgiving. If anyone is interested in sending beef jerky, corn, cranberry
or blueberry muffins, please send it with your child during the week of
Thanksgiving on Wednesday, November 25th. There are 12 students in the
class. Thank you in advance! Enjoy the rest of the week.
Mrs. Nelson
P.S. We do have Mass tomorrow and Scholastic Book orders are due. Please
send checks made out to Scholastic for individual book slips.
