Forensics

What is Forensics?

A performance-based approach to speaking using styles such as public address and oral interpretation. Students develop their persuasive, creative, and critical

thinking skills by preparing, developing, performing, and critiquing various presentations.

Students can engage in speaking activities including, but not limited to motivational speeches,

impromptu speeches, prose/poetry readings, dramatic monologues and group interpetations. The major focus of this activity is to build the middle school (6th - 8th grade) students  confidence level however, students will be encouraged to raise their performances to competition levels, which take place from the end of January to the end of March.

My child wants to be involved in Forensics what can I do to help?
.
-Help your child find an age appropiate piece to perform (make suggestions, but to be successful the final choice must be theirs)
- We are always in need of parents to listen to students perform (please listen to them at home and if  you have time, come in to SJB and help during the students lunch period (12:20 - 12:40) or our practice times after school - usually Wednesday (More details to follow))
-We need trained judges (training is FREE - takes about 2 hours).  For every 5 students we send to a meet we need one trained judge.  You would be judging 2 maybe 3 meets that are convient to you.
