Pre-kindergarten students with older siblings or cousins know all about homework and although many grow tired of it in later years, at first it seems very cool to have some. If you see homework in your child's folder or ideas to do at home to follow up on new skills, always keep in mind that it is optional. There may be times when your child is excited about it, and other times where he/she has no interest. The idea behind it is to grow the enthusiasm and love for learning and this base should never be compromised for drilling skills or pushing unnecessarily. If your child does finish the homework page, it can be sent back to school in the folder on the "to the teacher" side. This will get a sticker and be placed into the child's portfolio that acumulates with pictues, journal samples, and artwork throughout the year.
