Greetings from Fourth grade...
Hello Parents,
Just a couple of things to inform you about...
Our November reading logs will be due on Dec. 1, 09. Please make sure that
your child has their Historical Fiction book in class on November 30.
We will be walking to Project Angel Hugs on November 30, 09. We will be
watching a short power point presentation and then making a card and craft
item for a child with cancer. Ask your child about it when we return! We have
walking permission slips already filled out.
We continue to work with our 4K Head Start Reading Buddies. We are enjoying
our time with them. Ask your child to tell you about it.
A big Thank you to Emily's mom and the moms from Mrs. Murphy's room who helped
us with a snowman ornament for the Christmas trees in Madison. If you have a
chance you might want to visit to see the trees.
Our class has started Junior Achievement. Mr. Ten Pas from Kohler Co. comes to
us and teaches us about the regions of the US. Ask your child to tell you
about it.
Thank you for your Scholastic Book Order purchases.
Thank you for meeting with me during Conference time. I appreciate your
dedication to your child's learning.
A word about clothing... Please make sure they are wearing Sunday best for
church on Tuesdays and make sure they are coming to school with the
appropriate attire for the weather. WE DON"T WANT SICK KIDS!!!
Watch for a preliminary note about our field trip to Madison this spring. Mrs.
Murphy and I have some planning to do and will need to know some information
from you. This will come home via your child's folder.
A few words about what we have been up to in class...
We are learning about Baptism and the signs of Baptism. Talk with your child
about their Baptism.
In English we are working on conventions. We are using punctuation,
capitalization, abbreviations, commas, etc.
Math class has been a challenge! We just finished testing on some preliminary
multiplication work and we are moving into decimals. Please, Please, Practice
those facts!!!
In Reading we are working on skills such as story sequence and cause and effect.
In social studies we are talking about who the first people were that lived in
WI. We have talked about the different groups of Indians that were once here,
still here and what kinds of things they brought to WI.
We are doing well so far this year, please make sure you are checking in with
your child to see what we are doing in class and what they may have for
homework. Check their assignment books for work that may need to be completed.
Please remember to check this website for an daily updates on homework being
assigned. This may help your child out with some of the late slips you may be
signing.
If you have any questions about anything mentioned above, please let me know.
Thank you again for everything.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving,
Mrs. Angela Raflik
